Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 26 September 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,286) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (29,738) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,451) are currently in detention, (11,121) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to September 26, 2025, the junta killed (52) people in total in Mandalay Region; (25) women and (27)men, including (11) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the deaths, (28) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in that region, AAPP has also received information that the junta’s attacks resulted in the death of (140)civilians whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On September 23, at approximately 3 p.m., junta forces stationed at a cemetery in Let Kaung Gyi Village, Madaya Township, Mandalay Region, indiscriminately fired heavy weaponry, despite the absence of armed clashes. An artillery shell struck Yone Pin Village, instantly killing Aye Aye Maw.
