Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 4 September 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,182) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

Since the coup, a total of (29,628) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,366)are currently in detention, (11,044) of whom are serving sentences.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to September 4, 2025, (78) people in total; (12)women and (66) men, were killed by the junta’s gunfire across the country, including (4) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (78) deceased, (13) people were killed in Bago Region.

On September 1, at approximately 8:30 a.m., while traveling from Aung Si Yun Village to Myo Chaung Village in Phyu Township, Bago Region, two youths were shot by junta forces while crossing Myo Chaung Bridge. Hein Wai Soe was instantly killed after being shot in the chest, while Myo Zaw Aung was shot in the stomach. He managed to run back home but died upon arriving.
