“Hospitals, schools, civilian homes, as well as children, women, and other ordinary civilians, should never be military targets. Yet the junta has been carrying out daily aerial bombings, artillery shelling, and arbitrary killings in civilian areas that are not military targets. These acts are not only taking place in certain parts of the world, but also here in Burma. Neighboring countries, including ASEAN members, are well aware of these crimes. Although they have continued their engagement with the junta in the hope of persuading the military to end such acts, more than four years have passed since the coup, and the violence has only escalated. Our neighboring countries, including ASEAN, must reconsider their diplomatic policy toward relations with the junta.” Ko Bo Kyi, Joint Secretary of AAPP
