Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,157) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

Since the coup, a total of (29,602) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,350)are currently in detention, (11,029) of whom are serving sentences.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to August 28, 2025, a total of (47) children under the age of 18(21) girls and (26) boys, were killed by the junta across the country. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, Mandalay Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (11) people, followed by (7) people in Magway Region. Among the (47) deceased, (34) children were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death, followed by (12) children who were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes. During the stated period, AAPP also received information regarding the death of  (25) civilians under the age of 18, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On August 24, at approximately 8:30 p.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using high-explosive bombs on Le Bu Village, Natmauk Township, Magway Region, killing five people—Lwan Po, Kyi Myint, Win Hsaung, and two children, Thae Tone and Cho Zin Kyaw Kyaw—due to bomb shrapnel.
