Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,041)people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,507) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,269) are currently in detention, (10,954) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to August 6, 2025, (65) people in total; (10) women and (55) men, were killed by the junta’s gunfire across the country, including (2) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (65) deceased, Magway Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (15) people killed. (8) were killed in Mandalay Region.
On August 4, a junta military column of around 400 personnel launched an offensive into villages in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region. Upon arriving at Myauk Kone Village in Pyawbwe Village Tract, they shot and killed three locals—Lae, a pregnant woman named Thin Thin, and her daughter Shoon Lae—as the three tried to flee to safety.
