Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,962) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,380) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,179) are currently in detention, (10,881) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to observations made by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), targeted attacks on civilians by junta forces have continued to escalate over the past week. On July 8, junta forces fired heavy weaponry at Kawt Hlaing Village and Ma Yan Chaung Village in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, killing four family members, including three children. On the same day, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing in Mogoke Township, Mandalay Region, killing three civilians. On July 9, two children were killed in another junta aerial bombing on the same township. That same day, five locals, including a child, were killed in a junta airstrike on Lo Law Htee Village in Hpasawng Township, Kayah State.
In addition, the junta’s violence in Sagaing Region—a region known for its strong resistance movement against the military—continued to escalate. On July 10, two civilians were killed and ten others were injured in heavy artillery shelling on Htu Ni Village and Ywar Taw Lay Village in Chaung-U Township. On July 11, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on a monastery in Lin Ta Lu Village, Sagaing Township, where more than 100 displaced people were sheltering, killing nearly two dozen people, including children. On the same day, an airstrike on Yae Lel Hmaw Village in Wetlet Township killed one civilian and injured eight others, according to ground reports.
