Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,882) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,402) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,215) are currently in detention, (10,914) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to July 10, 2025, (30) people in total died in formal detention facilities across the country; (6) men in interrogation, (3) men in police stations, and (9) women and (12) men in prisons. These are numbers that have been verified.
In the first week of July 2025, Myint Wai, a political prisoner in Obo Prison, Mandalay Region, requested medical treatment due to severe stomach pain, but was denied. He was only taken to a hospital outside the prison after his condition became critical. As a result, he died on the morning of July 8, 2025, from perforated appendicitis. He was a member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and was arrested by junta forces in Ywar Thit Village, Sagaing Region, on May 19, 2021. Subsequently, Chanmyathazi Court sentenced him to 19 years under Section 505 A of the Penal Code, Section 50(a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law, and Section 6(1) of the Public Property Protection Act.
