Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,796) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,277) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,125) are currently in detention, (10,835) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to June 13, 2025, (101) political prisoners were arrested in total; (30) women and (71) men, and are still detained by the junta across the country. Among them, Yangon Region recorded the highest number of arrests with (34). (6) people were arrested in Ayeyarwady Region. On June 7, 2025, junta forces arrested Win Thu from Kyauk Sa Yit Kone Village, Lemyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, for allegedly supporting members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
Moreover, during the stated period, (132) people in total: (44) women and (88) men, were given prison sentences under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta, and are still detained in prisons across the country. Among them, (71) people were sentenced in Sagaing Region, recording the highest number of sentences. Among (132) sentences, (2) people were sentenced to the death penalty and (9) people were sentenced to life imprisonment.
