Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,262) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,516) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,787) are currently in detention, (10,276) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to February 6, 2025, (135) people in total; (64) women and (71) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (23) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among the deaths, the junta’s artillery strikes killed (22) people.
On February 5, at approximately 7:13 a.m., a coalition of junta forces and the Pa’O National Organization (PNO), opened fire with heavy weaponry from Thit Pin Kauk Village, Pinlaung Township, Shan State. The explosion of an artillery shell in Loi Nwet Village, Hpa Yar Taung Village Tract, Nyaungshwe Township, instantly killed an elderly man named Pyar due to artillery shrapnel. Moreover, at around 9:00 a.m., the junta alliance attacked a refugee camp in Hpa Yar Taung Village Tract, with heavy weaponry. The explosion of an artillery shell inside the refugee camp, instantly killed an internally displaced person named Phoe Wa from Mon Pyar Village, Loikaw Township, Kayah State, due to artillery shrapnel.
