Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,180) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,247) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,535) are currently in detention, (10,009) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to December 31, 2024, a total of (290) people; (46) women and (244) men, were killed by the junta’s gunfire across the country, including (20) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among the fatalities, Sagaing Region recorded the highest number of deaths, with (100) individuals confirmed dead.
On December 20, 2024, at approximately 4 p.m., junta forces attempted to abduct young men for forced labor, at a tea shop in Zay Yar Kwat Thit Ward, Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region. When the young men tried to flee, the junta forces opened fire, killing Myo Min Thu instantly.
