Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,069) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (27,969) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,399) are currently in detention, (9,800) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by the AAPP, from July 1 to December 20, 2024, (287) people in total; (136) women and (151) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes across the country, including (57) children under the age of 18. These identities have been verified. Among them, Rakhine State recorded the highest number of deaths with (90) people.

On December 1, at approximately 3:30 p.m., junta forces conducted an airstrike using jet aircraft in Kha Yaing Village, Toungup Township, Rakhine State. The attack instantly killed Ma Thein from Say Yone Kwat Thit Ward and Kyaw Thet Naing from Thar Yar Aye Village, who were seeking shelter in the village, due to bomb shrapnel. The attack also injured around 20 people. On the morning of December 2, a young woman, among the injured, succumbed to her injuries.
