Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,030) people, including pro-democracy activists and other civilians, have been killed through military crackdowns following pro-democracy movements.
Since the coup, a total of (16,005) people are currently under detention, (4,560) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (103) post-coup death row prisoners as of February 24, 2023. (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (41) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (144) people who have been sentenced to death. (24) people have been released on bail, and (3,837) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to information gathered today, on the afternoon of February 16, police from the Chaung-U police station arrived at the Naga Ni Broker Sales Center in Chaung-U Town, Sagaing Region, where five individuals were selling wheat. The police seized the wheat for allegedly being the property of the People’s Defense Force. The police also seized more than 10 million kyats, which the individuals had earned from selling wheat and two tractors. The five individuals are Kyauk Khae, Myat Phyo Shwe, Arr Noe, Hla Toe, and Kyaw Zin Tun; all of them are from Htu Ni Village, Chaung-U Township.
In addition, on February 23, at around 11 a.m., junta forces arrested Min Min Oo and are now interrogating him at Mawrawady Naval Base in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region. Min Min Oo is from Zar Di Village, Zar Di Village Tract, in Yebyu Township.
