Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of August 28, (1026) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. (1) from Htantalang Township in Chin State died today and (2) from Shwebo Township in Sagaing Region and Htantalang Township in Chin State were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.
As of August 28, a total of (6005) people are currently under detention. (258) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1984 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.
A civilian named Pu Hlei Bik died on the spot from an artillery shell exploded in Chin State’s Htantalang Township on the afternoon of August 27, it is also reported 11 civilians were injured. Furthermore, the artillery shell which was fired on August 25 and exploded on August 27 injured Salai Oak Hlan Kan, a 14-year-old and son of the killed Pu Hlei Bik. Salai Oak Hlan Kan died this morning in Hakha Hospital while receiving medical treatment.
On August 26 around 9 pm, Yan Aung Soe from Gonetan Village, Paline Village Tract in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, was arrested and taken to Gonetan Village Cemetery then shot dead by the terrorist military who questioned Yan Aung Soe for allegedly possessing weapons in his house.
The husband, Khin Maung Htwe, and daughter, and a guest of political activist Su Mar were arrested at home in South Dagon Township, Yangon Region on the evening of August 27 by many junta troops when they could not find Su Mar at the house. In addition to this, NLD secretary of Theinzayat Town Zaw Moe Htet a.k.a. Gwen Gyi, in Kyaikhto Township, Mon State, who was issued a warrant under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, was arrested by junta troops wearing plain clothes on the evening of August 27.
Swe Htoo, a high school teacher of Ta Ohm Village in Kyauk Myaung Town in Sagaing Region’s Shwebo Township, who is in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), was detained in a monastery in Paline village and forced to kneel before them and confess for his involvement in the CDM.
