June, 2025 Monthly Chronology

From June 1 to 30, 2025

3 July 2025

According to information gathered by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), there have been a total of (10) individuals who were arrested under political pretenses in June 2025. Moreover, (68) pro-democracy activists and civilians have lost their lives this month. Among them, (16) lost their lives under various circumstances following their arrest.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP and only includes information and data that has been identified. The actual numbers on the ground are likely much higher. AAPP has been working separately to collect and verify the information of around (80) people still under identification, who died within the month.

“The number of political prisoners dying in prisons has been increasing with each passing day. Upon examining these deaths, it can be seen that the causes include torture during interrogation, imprisonment and detention, lack of timely medical care, inadequate nutrition, as well as difficulties in receiving parcels and supports from family members due to prison transfers and transportation challenges in areas affected by clashes. Regardless of the circumstances, prison authorities should be held accountable for the killings and deaths of political prisoners in prisons.” Ko Bo Kyi, Joint Secretary of AAPP
