Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 12 September 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,234) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

Since the coup, a total of (29,671) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,398)are currently in detention, (11,078) of whom are serving sentences.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to September 12, 2025, the junta killed (180) men in total across the country, including (29) boys under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, (96) men were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death. Among the (180) deceased, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (36) men killed, followed by (24) in Mandalay Region.

On September 11, at approximately 7 a.m., junta forces stationed in Sint Kaing Village, Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, killed a local man named Ko Myo while launching an offensive into Tat Village.
