Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,060) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,531) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,291) are currently in detention, (10,970) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to August 12, 2025, (146) people in total; (68) women and (78) men, were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes across the country, including (29) children under the age of 18. These are numbers that have been verified. Among them, Tanitharyi Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (27) people. (10) people were killed in Kachin State.
On August 7, junta forces stationed on a strategic hill in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, fired heavy weaponry. One of the explosions struck the compound of a Kachin Baptist Church in Seik Mu Village Tract. The artillery shrapnel killed a woman named Bwak Hsam, who had been seeking refuge there.
